DETAILED DESCRIPTION
Canon EF 100 f/2.8 Macro USM is a 1:1 macro lens that is also a medium telephoto lens, which extends its use to portraits, still life, subject photography, including catalogue photography. The lens gives a beautiful blur (bokeh), good sharpness and the ability to shoot from a really close distance, about 30 cm to the lens, ie, for example, to photograph a large coin in the whole frame. Sometimes, especially in an insufficiently lit room or when shooting monochrome objects, it is possible to lose focus - in this case we advise you to simply use manual adjustment.
The optical scheme of the lens consists of 12 elements in 8 groups. Spherical aberrations that appear during focusing are eliminated throughout the entire focal length range. Eight aperture blades allow good results in background blur even when the aperture value is reduced by 1 or 2 stops. In addition, a built-in focus limiter sets the magnification value for macro photography to 1/4. Low-friction ceramic ball bearings support the moving elements, resulting in the smooth movement required to compensate for camera shake in macro photography. This is one of the lenses for which the Canon MR-14 EX macro flash is designed, as it allows for very precise and high quality illumination of the subject.
